Chapter 019: Batman in Action! SCP-008! The Disaster Approaches!
“What?”
“Already?!”
Nick Fury’s expression darkened. Before Natasha and the others could return, the screen began updating again. The speed was astonishing—far too fast! Based on the previous two incidents, these so-called "containments" were either incredibly powerful, bizarre, or miraculous, and their value was immeasurable. But the frequency of these updates was overwhelming. The brief glimpse of the background left Nick Fury deeply unsettled. What would happen this time? The allure of the containment's power was undeniable, but so was the fear of its potential devastation.
“Recall Captain America and the others immediately. Activate all disposal bases at full capacity. Ensure the containment’s location is locked the moment it appears, and respond as swiftly as possible!” Nick Fury issued the highest priority order before turning to head toward the high-security briefing room. The situation was spiraling out of control. SHIELD’s resources were no longer sufficient to handle the rapidly changing world. He needed new power—something from that room could provide the leverage he required.

[Countdown to the third containment exposure: 0 hours, 59 minutes]
…
“Damn it, time’s flying by!” Tony Stark, who had just returned home after stashing his Iron Man suit, paled. He had planned to celebrate with a champagne bath, but the countdown on the screen was nearly over. The speed was unbelievable! His “anti-peanut armor” was still in the drafting stage, with no concrete design ideas yet. And now, another containment was about to appear. How could anyone keep up?
“I hope it’s something like a miracle cure, so we don’t have to deal with more of these bizarre creatures,” Tony muttered, his lips twitching slightly. He felt utterly powerless against such irrational phenomena.
…
“Supreme Sorcerer, the screen is about to refresh,” Mordo reported upon returning to Kamar-Taj, glancing at the nearly expired countdown in the sky.
“A new containment?” The Ancient One frowned, her expression troubled.
“Supreme Sorcerer, what will the next containment be? A catastrophic creature or a rare treasure like the first one? Where will it appear?” The apprentices and mages of Kamar-Taj looked to the Ancient One with anticipation.
As everyone knew, the Supreme Sorcerer, who wielded the Eye of Agamotto, possessed the ability to peer through time. If she could predict the nature of the next containment and prepare in advance, it would be a tremendous advantage!
Under their expectant gazes, the Ancient One shook her head. “I cannot see it.” Whether it was the location or the nature of the containment, the future was blank—as if some terrifying power had erased it from the river of time. Forcing a glimpse might even provoke a backlash from those unimaginable forces, something even she could not withstand.
“Let time reveal the truth,” the Ancient One murmured softly, pulling her hood over her head, her figure shrouded in shadow. The dragon-like pupils in her eyes deepened, reflecting a complexity beyond comprehension.
…
Gotham City
“One down,” Bruce Wayne, clad in his bat suit, muttered as he subdued another villain attempting to disrupt the city’s order. He pulled out his phone and dialed a number to have the criminal taken into custody. As the screen went dark, the ever-present countdown in the corner caught his attention.
“A new containment is coming,” Bruce murmured, his brow furrowed. He had tested this mysterious phenomenon countless times, but no known method could affect it. The technology behind it was like a ghost in the digital realm, far beyond anything of this era. Even Superman, with his unimaginable strength, had tried and failed to influence it. It was as if the screen existed in a different dimension, defying all conventional understanding.
“If such power were to manifest in Gotham…” Bruce’s expression grew grim as he pondered the implications. How would he handle a similar containment? Suppressing the horror doll had been challenging enough, but how could he eliminate such threats permanently? What other unknown containments lurked beneath the surface, and what powers might they possess? The questions swirled in his mind, far more troubling than the occasional super-villain.
“Stay calm,” he reminded himself. “Only with a clear mind can you find a solution.” Under the cover of night, Bruce soared through the sky like a shadow, his thoughts racing.

[Ding! Time reset!]
[Exposure: The third containment object—SCP-008! Prion!]
